H.E. Dr. Jakaya
Mrisho Kikwete, President of the United Republic
of Tanzania has sent a congratulatory message to H.E. Peter Mutharika President of the Republic of Malawi.
The
message reads as follows;
“H.E.
Peter Mutharika,
President of the Republic of Malawi,
Lilongwe,
MALAWI.
Your Excellency,
I have received with
great pleasure, the news of your election as the new President of the Republic
of Malawi following the general elections held on 20th May 2014. I
would like, on behalf of the People and Government of the United Republic of
Tanzania and on my own behalf, to extend to Your Excellency, our sincere congratulations
on your impressive victory and that of your Party, the Democratic Progressive
Party.
Your victory in these
heavily contested elections is a clear testimony of the trust and confidence
that the people of Malawi have bestowed on you and your exemplary leadership.
I wish you every
success as you take up the responsibilities and challenges of the leadership of
your great nation. It is my hope that during your tenure of office, the people
of Malawi will enjoy greater prosperity and development. It is equally my hope
that under your able leadership, the excellent bilateral relations existing
between our countries and their people will be strengthened further and taken
to even higher heights.
I look forward to
working closely with Your Excellency not only in fostering our bilateral
relations but also to concert our efforts in the cause for peace and stability in
our region and the African Continent as a whole.

your personal good health and peace and prosperity for the people of Malawi.
