Sahara Africa, hosted Citi’s annual Africa Banks Forum in Zanzibar from August 11th to 13th. 
The annual event brings together Citi’s most esteemed financial institutions with the objective of  exploring trends, challenges and opportunities faced by financial institutions. 
This year the forum had 30 senior officials from banks in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Mauritania, Malawi, Mozambique Tanzania Uganda and Zambia. 
The Africa Banks Forum is part of Citi’s global initiative, dubbed Citi Academy for Financial Institutions, to engage its clients from financial institutions with strategic dialogue and hands-on  training.
Senior managers from across Citi’s Institutional Clients Group led sessions around trends in  correspondent banking, the regulatory landscape, strategies for growth with syndicated loans  and managing assets and liabilities. There was also in-depth workshops on payments 
innovation, liquidity and deposit strategies, as well as sessions on the intricacies of compliance were the main topics covered.
In his remarks at the conference Citi Tanzania’s Country Officer Joseph Carasso said “The Citi Academy for financial institutions professionals harnesses the knowledge and expertise of the individuals that make up Citi and the programs are designed to deliver the value of the Citi network to our clients by keeping them informed of the changing market to enable one to make better business decisions.”
