Dr. Tausi Mbaga Kida |
The Board of Trustees of the Economic and Social Research
Foundation (ESRF) announces the appointment of Dr. Tausi Mbaga
Kida as the new Executive Director of the Foundation with effect
from 1st May 2015.
She will be the fourth Executive Director since ESRF was established
in 1994 under the leadership of Prof. Samuel Wangwe.
She takes over from Dr. Hoseana Bohela Lunogelo, whose tenure of
office ended on the 30th April 2015. Dr. Hoseana Bohela Lunogelo will
continue to be a Senior Advisor and Principal Research Associate to ESRF.
Dr. Tausi Mbaga Kida is a Development Economist by profession with over 15 years of experience in
programme management, capacity development and socio-economic research. She holds a PhD in
Development Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands and MA in Economics
(University of Dar es Salaam). She also holds BA Degree in Economics (University of Dar es Salaam).
Prior to her appointment to the post of Executive Director, Dr. Kida was the Director of Programmes at
ESRF since February 2011. Dr. Kida has authored a number of publications including chapters in books
and articles in international journals. Some of her recent engagements include taking leading role in
consultation process in the development of Post MDGs Agenda in Tanzania.
Dr. Kida played a technical
and coordination role in directing the process of producing Tanzania Human Development Report 2014
“Economic Transformation for Human Development” for which she was the Project Manager. She is also a
member of Regional Steering Committee for developing East Africa Vision 2050.
Her main challenges at ESRF will be to continue consolidating the Foundation’s mandate as the centre of
excellence in policy research relevant for guiding sustainable growth and development in Tanzania and
the region. She will be out for collaboration with stakeholders in the public and private sectors. ESRF is
actively engaged in social economic policy research, policy dialogue and programmes for capacity
development of both government and non-state actors in Tanzania.
