Sali International Hospital has acquired all
assets belonging to former African Medical Investment (AMI) Hospital which
closed business in Dar es Salaam five months ago (May).
The hospital proprietors, Dr. Edward Tamale-Ssali
and his wife Kate Ssali, apart from buying AMI assets, has added more modern
equipments and moved to put up a state of the art international hospital at the
same premise in Masaki area in Tanzania, which opened its doors for patients early
October this year.
Dr. Ssali, a consultant Obstetrician and
gynaecologist with diverse experience having worked in this specialty in
several hospitals in the UK and other countries, says the investment would break
new grounds for healthcare in Tanzania.Briefing a section of journalists who toured the
facility recently, Dr. Ssali said he had been under immerse pressure to open
the facility from potential clients who were desperately in need of quality
services in a good environment.

He said, shortly after announcing start of its
operations, the hospital has been attending to an impressive number of out and
in-patients, with a steady increase in the patients’ numbers. Dr. Sali said the positive response to the
hospital from clients from all walks of life signals a positive business
projection.
“The support we have been getting from the local
community and uptake in patient numbers since we started has been gratifying.
Our responsibility is to ensure that the trust they place in this facility and
their confidence in the services we provide are upheld at all times,” said Dr.
Ssali.
He said that as patients’ numbers continue to
increase, the road ahead looks promising, adding that; “There is no doubt that
the excellent services at Sali International Hospital gives our health facility
an upper hand in Tanzania market. It is a journey that is worth a ride.”
Dr. Ssali, told journalists that his hospital
focuses on becoming a leading supplier of private specialist hospitals services
across Tanzania, as well as East and Central Africa offering quality in and
outpatient services, with plans to root its operations in Tanzania market.
“We are fortunate to have a number of highly
respected specialists on board with extensive experience in areas such as
internal medicine, gynecology, cardiology and pediatrics. They are also well
versed in treating patients from different cultural backgrounds. Their skills
and experience will undoubtedly be of great benefit to our patients.
“Although we have recalled some former AMI
specialists, we have also recruited specialists from local medical field with
exceptional medical service records and international expatriates, with focus
on racial dynamics. This gives SIH an added advantage to serve a rage of
patients, thereby raising our performance and hence positively influences our
balance sheet portfolio,” he said.
According to Dr. Sali, the 30-bed hospital
specializes in medical and surgical disciplines and offers a delivery room,
24-hours emergency center, X-ray department, haemodialysis unit, CT-scan
center, 4D ultrasound, neonatal ICU beds, well equipped Intensive Care Unit
(ICU) and fully fledged theaters.
Dr. Sali mentioned that although the hospital
opened its doors to patients early last month (October), official opening is
scheduled to happen in three months time.
