In commemorating 10 years since it was established in April 2006 by the former President of Tanzania, H.E. Benjamin William Mkapa, the Benjamin Mkapa Foundation (BMF) in partnership with Bank M organized a fundraising event yesterday in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking during the event, Bank M’s Chief Executive Officer (Designate) Ms. Jacqueline Woiso said that Bank M is proud to be part of the successful journey that the foundation has had in the past 10 years.

“We fully acknowledge the challenges involved in accessibility of quality health services in the country in the rural areas and we sincerely believe that we need a focal point to address these challenges as a nation. We have now seen the fundamental role taken by this foundation over the last 10 years through training of health workers and construction of Operating theatres”, said Ms. Jacqueline. 

Speaking on behalf of BMF, the BMF foundation CEO Dr. Ellen Mkondya-Senkoro thanked Bank M, the main sponsor for their support toward BMF activities. She added that, in the past five years, this partnership has managed to improve clinical skills of 760 health workers on managing HIV and AIDS clients, provide training to at least 2000 health managers from Local Government Authorities on effective planning, supervision and management of health workers.

Since 2012, Bank M has partnered with the BMAF for implementing their 5 years programme of HIV & Aids control and prevention.

A total of TZS 1.17billion was raised during the event.
