    YouthNet Executive Committee member, Faraja Kotta leaves the country tonight for the United States of America for a three-week study tour entitled 'Youth Empowerment' project that begins on June 1st to June 22. Faraja was Miss Tanzania 2004.

    The project,is part of the prestigious International Visitor Leadership Programme run by the US State department. It intends to facilitate personal and professional contacts between the people of the United States and Tanzania.

    According to a letter of invitation signed by the American Embassy Cultural Attach in Dar es Salaam,David Colvin, the project also aims at introducing the US system of democracy, political system and the significance of political and civic engagement of young adults to learn how American youth obtain the skills to influence public policy at the local, state, national and international levels.

    The program,also intends to explore the range of non-governmental organisations involved in youth activities and encourage exchange of management and development strategies.
    In an interview with The Guardian, Faraja promised to share the knowledge and experience she would obtain in the US with other youths in Tanzania.
