The Kisutu Resident Magistrate`s Court will decide today whether to join or not two accused persons charged with stealing 2.2bn/- from the Bank of Tanzania`s External Payment Arrears (EPA) account.
The decision will be made today by Principal Resident Magistrate, Eddy Lyamuya.
Earlier, defence lawyer Evarist Mbuya told the court that accused Japhet Lema, who was brought to court in November last year is charged with the same counts as Munisi Jonathan, who appeared in court last month.
He therefore, asked the court to join the accused in one charge instead of prosecuting them separately.
However Magistrate Lyamuya said that she could not make any decision because the application had not been filed in the court.
She therefore adjourned the case so that the application could be filed before she makes the ruling today.
In the main case, both Munisi and Lema are charged with stealing 2,266,046,041/- from BoT after presenting false deed of assignment showing that C. Itoh & Company Ltd of Japan had assigned a debt of the same amount to Njake Enterprises.
In another case in the same court, a witchdoctor, Juma Ally (28), is charged with obtaining 32m/- by false pretence.
The accused was charged before Principal Resident Magistrate Eddy Lyamuya.
State Attorney Edgar Luoga alleged that in May last year in Dar es Salaam, by false pretence and with intent to defraud, Ally obtained 32m/- from Salima Rashid after he pretended that he would assist her by using supernatural powers to reproduce the same amount of money to 500m/-.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and the case was adjourned to January 20, this year.
i don't really know what's the catch in this win, the campaign was full of hatred and bashful words were used freely, i am not sure what's the catch in the highest national chair to have to campaign to that extreme, maybe the pom poms... don't know really
