The late Senator Edward KennedyPresident Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete has sent a condolence message to H.E. Barack Obama, President of the United States of America, following the death of Senator Edward Kennedy.
The Statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and InternationalCo-operation in Dar es Salaam yesterday said the President was deeply andsorrowfully saddened by news on the passing of Senator Edward Kennedy.
Senator Kennedy died on August 25, 2009 after a long battle with brain cancer.
“I wish at this difficult time, to express my heartfelt sympathy and condolence to your Excellency and through you to the Government and People of the United States ofAmerica and most particularly to the bereaved family," he told President Obama.
He further noted that the inspiration, optimism and perseverance of the late veteran Senator Edward Kennedy will live on amidst the minds and hearts of the American people.
The President said Senator Kennedy will be remembered for his dominant voice in the promotion of health care, civil rights, peace and the economic well being of the American people.
As you mourn the passing of a great leader, Tanzanians will share your pain and pray to the Almighty God to give the family, relatives and friends of the late Senator Edward Kennedy strength and fortitude.
