Ramadhan Kareem Kaka Michuzi,
How are you?
I am well, we have been very busy at Kilimanjaro International Airport with exciting clients. I thought you might like this picture of the kids I hosted at my hangar. It was very emotional for me, to give back to these kids, just to open up their mind to the endless possibilities!
They had many interesting questions. I would like to see more and more of us making time to share and give back to our community.
The picture was taken on Tuesday the 10th of August 2010 at the KIA. We are standing beneath the wing of a Global Express XRS. I started by towing the jet into the hangar by using a push back.
The children had many questions were asked about airplane, how they fly, where are the engines, etc.Toward the end, a little girl came and asked quietly: What is a black box? Why does it survives the crash? How come they don't make the whole plane out of the same material?........
Sherry, the only explanation I could give: the aircraft would be too heavy if the fuselage and wings are made out of steel or titanium.
I didn't expect such questions so I had to gather my thoughts and started with: well, it is not really black, it is orange. She asked why it doesn't get burned: I told her some titanium materials can withstands heat up to 3000 degrees of Fahrenheit.
Then, how do they find it in the ocean then: I told her they use sonar tracking devices and once within the area, they physically have to search for it. (I had to put the "sonar" there) but the Blackbox emit a signal also.
When they asked how does it fly: initial reaction was, ahh! It is the Newton third law of motion - For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, I thought nay....then thought of aerodynamics, wing camber, angle of attack, etc.....too boring of an explanation...
I settled for the balloon example: when you blow up a balloon and let it go, that is how an aircraft flies. as the air goes out, it pushes the balloon forward.
Thank you,
Susan Mashibe

Such a smart young woman, I must say. The writing is on the wall, when I read the couple of paragraph, I quickly realise this is just a special woman, with talent and smartness, coupled with cool and collected composure.
ReplyDeleteYou have a feelings girl. I like it.
ReplyDeleteDada I like what you have done...unfortunately sisi wa Tanzania hatujui ku appreciate, matokeo yake watu wanatoa comments negative kama wengi hapo juu. kweli inasikitisha. Usikate tamaa keep it on and keep it strong. atoto no watoto haijalishi na hao kwenye picha wanaonekan ni watoto wa kawaida tu wala si watoto wa matajiri.point ilikuwa kuonyesha umuhimu wa watu tulio makazini na kwenye nafasi mbali mbali ku "give back' kwa jamii kwa njia kama hizi ambazio mwisho wa siku zitainua nchi yetu na kusaidia watoto wa taifa hili kusonga mbele na sio kuteteraka maishani bila role models.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzan,
ReplyDeletekeep up the good work you doing. With people like you Tanzania will definately become a better place to live, work and earn an honest living. The mere fact that you could have chosen to settle somewhere else in the world but instead opted to come back to Tanzania shows how much you believe in this country of ours. I wish you all the best and hope to see more talents coming your ways for advise.
dada safi sana,me adi ukubwa huu sijawai jua iyo black box kumbe ndo iko ivo?picha please
ReplyDeleteje ndege zenye jet engine vs pangaboi kuhimili ajali kukoje?
be blessed abundatly
That is a forward motion of a balloon not a flight of a balloon!!
THE BRAIN.
