Tampere Africans Sports (TAS) ry intends to bring FARE's Action week to the city of Tampere. FARE Action Week Tampere is an event meant for immigrant and Finnish sports organisations in Tampere that are interested in furthering multiculturalism through football. Our objective is to publicise the fact that football as a global medium, is one of the most important effective tools in bringing different ethnic and religious groups together.
Asylum-seekers are of one groups that face prejudice and bias in our society. TAS ry intends to raise thier voice through football by organising a mini-tournament in collaboration with asylum-seeker centers around Pirkanmaan region.
Tampere city is also famous for its anti-racism week organised yearly in the month of March. Despite its popularity, sports activities are not part of this important event: a fact the TAS ry intends to fullfill through FARE Action Week Tampere.
Four football teams comprising of foreign and Finnish members will play in a one-day soccer event. The mini-tournament will commence with the declaration of NO MORE RACISM in football and the city. This declaration will be hopefully be declared by an influencial individual from the city authorities or city legislature. The winners of this small scale tournament will be rewarded and all teams awarded with certificates of appreciation for thier participation.
The tournament will be organised in collaboration with the city of Tampere,FIMU ry, RASMUS anti-racism network and the Finnish Refugee Council. Through wide-spread publicity we hope to attract as many participants and spectators to the tournament grounds.
FARE ACTION WEEK TAMPERE (NO MORE RACISM)
- A mini tournament in the city of Tampere at Pyynikki stadium on the 15.10.2011 starting from 1300h to 2000h.
- Tournament commences with opening words from the city of Tampere and declaration of NO MORE RACISM.
- 4 teams that include teams from local asylum-seeker centers in the Pirkanmaan region.
- 6 games lasting 50 minutes each with the winning teams earning 3 points. Must win game system.
- Winning is not the most important aim but playing together and sharing quality active time is.
- The event ends trophy and cretificate presentations and closign remarks.
