HRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall (pictured) this afternoon jet into in Dar es salaam for a four-day official visit of Tanzania. This is among a series of VVIP visits to Tanzania to commemorate 50Years of Tanzania Mainland Independence.
In 1961 Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, HRH's father, was here in the then Tanganyika to officiate at the the official handing over of Independence to Tanganyika.
According to a statement issued yesterday in Dar es salaam by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, the Royal couple will be accompanied by Hon. Henry Bellingham, UK Minister for Africa Affairs and other ranking officials from Buckingham Palace.
On arrival at the airport, the Royal Highness and the Dutchess of Cornwall will be received by the Prime Minister, Hon. Mizengo Kayanza Pinda.
The Prince of Wales is scheduled to hold official talks with President Jakaya Kikwete on Monday morning before gracing an exhibition to commemorate 50Years of Tanzania Mainland's Independence mounted by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
HRH is also expected to visit a number of Development projects supported by the British Government and also pay a visit to Arusha and Zanzibar.

In Zanzibar, HRH the Duke of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will also pay a courtesy call on Dr. Ali Mohammed Shein, the President of Zanzibar.
In Arusha, the Royal Highness will visit Legunga School to find more on the donor and government partnership in improving access to education. He will also be briefed about the role of Non-governmental Organisations in raising awareness.
Prince Charles and his delegation are expected to depart Tanzania from the Kilimanjaro International Airport.
