Wanted: expressions of interest for Publicity and Advocacy Campaign: 2012 Tanzania Population and Housing Census

Tanzania plans to conduct the 5th population and housing census on 26th August 2012, preceded by preparatory activities started in 2004.  The United Nations and Government place high importance on the use of population data for policies and programmes. This is a key aspect in the collective efforts to improve the wellbeing of people and reduce poverty. Each survey adds to the better understanding of the health, population and living standards of the people.  UNFPA in collaboration with other development partners provides support to ensure that the 2012 Tanzania Population and Housing Census is conducted according to international standards. To ensure an informed and responsive public, especially those in the rural areas UNFPA Tanzania, as part of the UN system Delivering as One, has been requested by the government of Tanzania through National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), to roll out a focused publicity and advocacy campaign that aims to create public understanding of census and ensuring people respond to census questionnaire on 26 August. The UNFPA Tanzania Office will commission latest by May 12, a Tanzania based event management/communications and/or marketing institution/agency. Their task will be to develop and manage the 2012 census campaign.  In addition to experience in campaign design and management, the institution/agency should have a good track record in: outreach in rural areas, sponsorship raising, communicating messages to different constitutes using variety of communication approaches in addition to media relations, monitoring and documentation.
