The World Squash Federation (WSF) is calling for the support of squash clubs all over the world to support the bid for squash to become an Olympic sport.

Squash 2020 is the campaign to coordinate support for squash to become a sport in the 2020 Olympic Games.

Around 500 clubs all over the world have registered with the WSF to support the 2020 Back the Bid campaign and are joining together to play a global squash match on World Squash Day, 20th October 2012. Squash players all over the world will be divided into 2 teams – Team Squash and Team 2020 and will play against each other. The final score of the Teams all over the world will be sent to the World Squash Federation to be added to the GLOBAL SCORE BOARD for Team Squash and Team 2020 in order to come up with the World Club Champion.

Squash players in Dar es Salaam have come together and formed a World Squash Day Organizing Committee to organise a World Squash Day in Tanzania. The Tanzania Squash Racquets Association (TSRA) is one of the global associations which has registered with the WSF to participate in the global team matches on World Squash Day.

Squash players in Tanzania were invited to show their support for the 2020 Back the Bid campaign and to sign-up to play for their local Team Squash and Team 2020 teams. Players as young as 12 years and as old as 60 years have signed up to support 2020 Back the Bid campaign.

The battle between the Team Squash and Team 2020 teams in Tanzania will take place at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club on Saturday 20th October 2012- World Squash Day.

As at to date 20,020 squash players all over world have signed up to play in the global team match.

The WSF hopes that squash will be voted in by the International Olympic Committee during their congress in Buenos Aires next year and that the fantastic response to World Squash Day can only help enhance ambitions of the big decision going their way.
