African’s prosperity towards a stable economy will be attained if people will effectively use Dudai as their gateway for the future, a panel of young entrepreneur has urged.
Attending the African Global Business Forum-2013 which was organized by Comesa Regional Investment Agency and Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and drawing some 4500 delegates from different parts of the world, young entrepreneurs established that Dubai is playing key role as a gateway to Africa and there is a lot more to learn.
It was also attended by UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and the Ruler of Dubai, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Dubai’s Deputy Ruler Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Others were Mo Ibrahim, former Botswana President Fostus Mogue and Tanzania’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Cooperatives permanent secretary Sofia Kaduma.
Warning ‘copy and paste’ strategy forum participants said Dubai had been successful due to great leadership, where Africa needs to learn from.
Tanzania’s based top young entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer, Helvetic Solar Contractors; Patrick Ngowi said “There is a lot we should learn from Dubai.”
Ngowi who was among four young entrepreneurs from Africa who were invited by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said following the forum, “the continent is heading into right direction. Its excellent opportunities to extend reach,” he said adding “We have to look reason why they relocate incentives for young entrepreneurs in rural communities.”
Amelia Kyambadde, Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives of the Republic of Uganda and Chairperson of the COMESA Council of Ministers, said young African entrepreneurs are starting to drive the continent’s future and need to be engaged to harness their success, delegates heard.
“Dubai is definitely gateway to Africa. There are a lot of lessons to learn from Dubai. It has done a great job as it has great leadership.”
Roland Agambire, Chairman, AGAMS Group, Ghana, didn’t agreed with fellow panelists and said Ghana is the gateway to Africa. But he agreed that Dubai is hub for globalization.
With a population of over 1 billion people and a combined GDP of close to $ 2 trillion, Africa’s strong economic growth in recent years has made it a region of international focus and interest by many businesses that are flocking to the region for its multitude of economic prospects.
Panelists agreed that the future of Africa is very bright and also said starts today as the continent offers huge opportunities and has got very large young population.
First paragraph "African's prosperity towards a stable economy will be attained if people will effectively use Dubai as their gateway for the future...” Personally, I don’t buy this. I would replace the word “Dubai” with the word “Africa”!.
ReplyDeleteOn the 10th paragraph, Roland Agambire has opted to challenge the word “Dubai” with the word “Ghana”. We can discuss.

David, I agree with you..Africa is the future, Africa is for Africans. The era of sending our brains and man power to develop the West and Middle East is over. Ghana is a living truth, they have Oil which so far proves to be resourceful.
ReplyDeleteThey have enacted good laws that favor Ghanaian (local content legislation in Petroleum and Mining, infrastructure (roads = at least our leader should ask Ghanaian how to do this and not build a short term special road that will be unimaginable crisis in 5-10 years) and they have measure in place that ensures Ghana is not a raw material supermarket like other countries.
What will the monthly few 'Diram/Dinar' salary do to the future of Africa?? If people of that caliber focus on African potential and establish SME's that spans from Agric to Mining to Factory we will be far better in the next decade.
I agree with David V and Second Comments.
ReplyDeleteUAE and their Dubai has been brain washed us for many years on Trade Links and Business opportunities.
Now the shift is coming to Africa, and what they do is Last Starving surviving breathing to try to divert FDI (Foreign Direct Investments).
The same method is used by our jealousy neighbors REPUBLIC OF KENYA that has discovered ''NOT CONFIRMED COMMERCIAL OIL AND GAS'' but ''THEY ARE TRUMPETING TO OBTAIN COMMERCIAL GAS AND OIL'' like Tanzania TO DIVERT (FDI)FLOWS TO THEM something they still or not yet don't have!.
