Following the enactment of the Mining Act
2010, the Ministry of Energy and Minerals
requests and directs all explorers, miners and
mineral dealers and traders to abide to the
requirement of the Mining Act 2010.
Mineral dealers (traders and buyers) in
particular who deal with gold and diamond
must conduct mineral trading according to
the law to avoid fraudulent activities that are
widespread in the country.
The activities are
conducted by few individuals to obtain money
illegally by cheating local and foreign mineral
traders.
The Mining Act 2010 and its Mining (Mineral
Trading) Regulations 2010 have open and
transparent rules that guide trading activities in
the country. Miners and mineral dealers must
own either a mining or dealer license to be able
to acquire, dispose, sell or export minerals.
In
case of export of minerals an export permit
must be issued by the Commissioner for
Minerals or an Authorized Officer at any
Mines Office across the country.
Abiding to
the mining and trading laws and regulations
will ensure that no person local or foreign is
conned and that the Government collects its due
rightful revenues.
With this NOTICE, all mineral dealers and
traders specifically foreigners who visit the
country for tourism or business and wish to
buy minerals are directed and requested to
contact Zonal and Resident Mines Offices that
are situated across the country as well as the
Ministry of Energy and Minerals Headquarters'
office in Dar es salaam to get the right guidance
and advise on how to acquire minerals and to
avoid being misled by conmen.
