Mid-sized companies play a critical role in the development of Tanzanian economy. By recognizing such a big
role, KPMG and Mwananchi Communications Ltd initiated The Top 100 Mid-Sized Companies Survey. Bank M
Tanzania, for the third year in a row, has again come on board as the main sponsor of these prestigious
awards.
The Top 100 Mid-Sized Companies Survey celebrates business success among the country’s Mid-Sized
Companies as well as entrepreneurs for contributing to the growth of the Tanzanian economy in general.
Winners of the renowned Tanzania Top 100 Mid-Sized Companies Survey will be announced in September
during a grand gala dinner event to be held in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking during a media brief in Dar es Salaam yesterday, KPMG Director Mr. David Gachewa said “the
number of mid-size companies voluntarily registering for the ranking is overwhelming despite the rigorous
processes and scrutiny the firms are subjected to. We expect to have about 250 companies participating in the
Tanzania Top 100 Mid Sized Companies Awards 2016 before the application deadline of 31 August 2016.
” Last
year the event boasted a little over 200 respondents and it is anticipated to get bigger this year. He also
attributed a lot of the success of the project is due to commitment, dedications and transparency of the mid-
size companies.
The initiative being a brain-child of KPMG and MCL, The Managing Director for MCL, Mr. Francis Nanai, stated
that the success of this project was based on perseverance. “There will be companies that will not make it but
there is always a next year. Mr. Nanai also thanked Bank M for their continued support of the survey for the
third year. “This shows that the bank trusts the whole process and it is dedicated to support the mid-sized
companies in the country”.
Also speaking on behalf of Bank M, the Bank’s Chief Executive Officer (Designate), Ms. Jacqueline Woiso
remarked, “we have joined hands with KPMG and Mwananchi Communications in this project and our major
aim is to support the growth of mid-sized corporates in the country.

for wealth creation and contribution towards real economic growth cannot be underemphasized, this is why
Bank M for the third year in a row became the main sponsors of the event. Bank M has always been working
hand in hand with reputable organizations in different reputable projects and that joining hands with KPMG
and MCL in this survey is the continuation of their strategy of bringing about significant economic
advancement in the country.
The purpose of the Top 100 Survey is to identify Tanzania’s fastest growing medium-sized companies with a
view to showcase their business excellence and highlight their most successful entrepreneurship stories.
Other sponsors joined hands with KPMG and Mwananchi, including Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) and
Azam TV.
