CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI)
TO Co-facilitate the piloting of a commercial radio programme that targets rural producers in central corridor of Tanzania
Background
In the second phase (2008-2010) RLDC takes a broader and more systemic approach. RLDC is a facilitator of market development. Although the focus on the value chain core functions and their linkage is still important, RLDC looks at it more broadly in the context of the entire market sector and asks what is needed to make markets work better, become more competitive and sustainable in the long run.
Consequently more actors in the core market activities and the provision of supporting services and improvement of business environment are addressed as potential partners for market developments are addressed. In particular RLDC views timely and accurate information to the rural producers who cannot readily access print media nor be reached by technical staff except through a radio programme (which is the main medium of information communication in the rural areas of Tanzania) as an important step to improve production and market practices that can improve the welfare of the rural people.
Overall objective of the radio intervention Improve access to information that responds to the needs of rural producers and small and medium enterprises The co-facilitatorWith this approach RLDC requires the services of a competent and experienced registered organisation, who will on behalf of RLDC work on a day to day basis with the selected national radio station (already selected) to support the design, content selection, production and airing of the programme.
