RE: INTERNATIONAL HIGH LEVEL CONFERENCE ON MWALIMU NYERERE TO BE HELD AT THE UNIVERSITY OF EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND 9TH NOVEMBER, 2009.

The Tanzania High Commission in London wishes to inform you about the above subject matter and a Nyerere commemorative publication we are promoting. The background to the matter is detailed below.

As you may already be aware, the University of Edinburgh in collaboration with this Mission and the Tanzanian community in Edinburgh are organizing an International High Level Conference focusing on the late Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, First President of the United Republic of Tanzania and a former student of the University of Edinburgh.

In honoring Mwalimu, The University has announced ‘The Julius Nyerere Masters Scholarship’, to a Tanzanian citizen for admission on a full time basis for a post graduate Master’s programme. Two Tanzanians have been awarded the Mwalimu Nerere Scholarship for this academic year.

The Tanzania High Commission is promoting a Mwalimu Nyerere commemorative publication focusing on his influence and legacy as a leader. It is intended that the publication will feature a suitable reflection of Mwalimu’s influence across Africa and beyond, particularly the making of the Tanzanian nationhood and his role in the liberation of Africa as well as conflict resolution. We are approaching selected individuals across Africa and elsewhere to contribute articles for the publication.

The purpose of this note is therefore to request you to ask willing members of the Tanzanian Diaspora to provide articles. The articles should be of one to two pages. The articles will be edited by the FIRST Magazine editors and there is no guarantee that all articles submitted will be published. Although we have requested for specific topics from other people, we would like the Tanzanian Diaspora who wish to write to have more flexibility about the topics they would like to choose in relation to Nyerere’s legacy. This could be about his struggle for economic independence, new international economic order, the liberation of Southern Africa, his international stature and achievements and challenges.

The publication will be launched in London in October 2009, and as such we would appreciate to if articles are forwarded to us at least by the end of first week of October, 2009. Further, the High Commission would urge those Tanzanians who would be interested to travel to Edinburgh for the event, at their own expense, to register with the High Commission at the earliest.

The Tanzania High Commission wishes to thank you very much in anticipation of your contribution towards making this noble goal a reality.

  2. Hivi tangazo hili Mheshimiwa Balozi Maajar alilifanyia editing kweli?

Tangazo kama hilo linapoandikwa ni vizuri lilenge "to catch the eye of the reader so as to interest him to continue reading it".

Huo ni ushauri wangu wa bure kwa ubalozi mzito kama huo wetu wa London. Hebu acheni uswahili wa kuripua ripua kazi. Alaa!!!
