From Conflict and Crisis to Renewal: Generations of Change
WHAT:
Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ms. Elizabeth Nyambibo will be launching UNFPA State of the World Population Report 2010. The 2010 Report explores how conflict and protracted humanitarian emergencies affect women, girls, men and boys, and shows how many women and young people have live through seemingly insurmountable obstacles have begun rebuilding their lives and laying foundation for peace and renewal of their societies.. HIGHLIGHTS:
* The report coincides with the 10th anniversary of Security the UN Council Resolution 1325, which called on parties to armed conflicts to take measures to protect women and girls from gender based violence and called greater involvement by women in negotiating and implementing peace agreements.
* The report is about Resilience, Renewal and Redefining role between men and women, boys and girls
* This year’s report includes an analysis of one or more of the indicators in the back of the report (to be issued after the launch) and particularly MDG 5
* Launch of a Tanzania Youth Supplement; first person’s testimonies that illustrate the toll that war and displacement has taken on the young refugees
* A short film will be on a Youth Parliament Session and views of young people in Nyarugusu refugee camp, Kigoma
