Airtel empowers celebrations of Africa Day

Dar es Salaam, Thursday -May 19, 2011: 

In a bid to keep on supporting various stakeholders in the country, Airtel Tanzania has today announced a handful support to the African Diplomatic Spouses Group, for the later to raise funds for Annual Fund Raising Gala Night to celebrate Africa Day for this year.

The donated items for the event includes three high end handsets, all loaded with free talk time, internet service and 2 modems subscribed with internet bundle, providing the fastest and most reliable internet services.

Airtel Tanzania’s Head of corporate Communications, Beatrice Singano Mallya said that the company is determined to keep on strengthening the relationship with African diplomatic spouses as majority members of the group comes from other African countries in which Airtel operates.

“Our support to this charity activity aims at adding more excitement for various winners of the raffle which shall be drawn during the gala night that will be held in Dar es Salaam this Friday,we believe in the course they have chosen to support and we are eager to support  marternal health and child motility rate”, she said.

Following the donation from Airtel, The African Diplomatic Spouses Group Chairperson Aletha Isaac said the funds to be raised at the event shall be apportioned through some charity organizations to the less privileged people in the Tanzanian community.

“We appreciate the support from Airtel and like in the past, the fundamental purpose of the event is to raise funds for charity while at the same time enabling p

articipants to unwind after a week of hard work”, she said.

Celebrations of Africa Day for this year, the Annual Fund Raising Gala Night goes with the theme “Combating maternal and infant mortality in Tanzania”.
