By the end of 2011, the global population will have reached 7 billion. This is more than double the number of people living just 50 years ago. While celebrating this amazing milestone, the ability for countries to plan effectively in order to ensure the rights of each and every person is respected and protected becomes more urgent. New opportunities and challenges will also inevitably arise.
To celebrate this important landmark, UNFPA in Tanzania, as part of the UN system Delivering as One, intends to roll out a 7Billion countrywide campaign that aims to create public understanding, generate discussion and ensure action around population issues.
The UNFPA Tanzania Office will commission by July 15 2011, a Tanzania based event management/communications and/or marketing institution/agency. Their task will be to develop and manage the Tanzania 7Billion campaign. In addition to experience in campaign design and management, the institution/agency should have a good track record in: sponsorship raising, mobilizing young people, media relations, monitoring and documentation.
