On the 4th of November Prof. Alexander Songorwa, Director of Wildlife on behalf of the Minister of Natural resources and Tourism opened the crucial conference for rangers in the world. This meeting encompasses all Public servants, private organizations, local and International organizations involved in protected areas management. The theme for this year was "working towards Healthy Parks, dealing with Hungry People"

After the opening ceremony, several presentations were made through different practitioners from all over the world. Of the presentations made from the Wildlife Division was the role of rangers and local communities to combat poaching in Tanzania by Mr. Twaha Twaibu Acting Assistant director Wildlife development, Rangers roles In Sustainable wetlands Management in Tanzania by Mr. Sadiki Lotha Laisser, Experts in Limnology and Sustainable wetlands management and Ms Lowaeli Damalu, Principal of Pasiansi Institute of Wildlife management-Mwanza.

Protected areas experts from Wildlife Division, TAWIRI, TANAPA and NCAA got the opportunity to interact with other folks in the field to sharpen skills and exchange experiences and learn from each.
Wildlife division also shared experience with folks in the field of protected areas management from USA, Australia, Portugal and UK on the revival of the establishment of the Tanzania Rangers association. The association will be the professional consortium of experts in the field of conservation. It will involve certification of experts having passed practioners test. It will also monitor the ethical conducts of experts in the field.During the course of the Conference, Rangers without Borders provided assistance of the three bed room house to the widow of the diseased rangers during the implementation of their duties. The support was also extended to children of two rangers diseased for their education. One of them is now supported to college education. All these support is by Wildlife Division in collaboration with the donors.
The Conference was closed on the 9th November by the World Rangers Federation Mr. Deanne Adams after lowering of the Nationals flags that has attended the conference.
The call for wildlife management dates back from Mwl. J.K. Nyerere era, which he calls to all nations and people of all classes to manage wildlife for the future generation.
The   conservation   of   wildlife   and   wild   places   calls   for   specialist knowledge,   trained manpower,  and money,  and we  look   to other nations  to co-operate with us  in  this  important   task  the success or failure of which not only affects the continent of Africa but the rest of the world as well.”
