The Minister for Constitutional and Legal Affairs Hon. Mathias Chikawe together with members of Tanzania Open Government Partnership Steering Committee are attending Africa Open Government Partnership meeting in Mombasa, Kenya with a theme “Taking OGP forward in Africa”.
The meeting has brought more than 15 African countries and Several Civil Societies Organization with the aim of sharing experience among countries and Civil Societies Organizations that are members of the OGP and those who are not on how they can join the OGP initiative and also to chat the best ways on how OGP can be strengthened in Africa continent.
Open Government Partnership is an international initiative that was launched in 2011 by USA, Brazil and UK. It is the partnership between Government and Civil Societies that aims at increasing Government Transparency and openness improve citizen participation, integrity, fight corruption and use of technology.
Countries that join OGP are required to make commitments to improve those areas and on Its part Tanzania has in place an Action Plan that focus on improving transparency, openness, integrity in Health, Education and Water Sector.
