'Bookman and Aibange are academy, not club coaches'

JEFF Bookman and Ose Aibange are not assistant coaches of two UK Premier league clubs--Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur--as it had been reported by a section of the local media on Wednesday.

Instead, the two men, who arrived in Tanzania on Tuesday to facilitate a soccer development programme presented by Global Scouting Bureau (GSB), are the coaches of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur football academies, respectively.

"It is very unfortunate that some media had not been clear about the status of the two coaches hence causing unnecessary confusion," Elliud Pemba, a close associate of the GSB boss, said.

Pemba also confirmed that both Bookman and Aibange were not Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur clubs coaches rather coaches of the two Premier side academies that gloom young talent.

Our findings also show that Bookman is the manager of the under-13 team in the Chelsea Football Academy and is not involved whatsoever in training the Premier League side.

Bookman details shows that he is a qualified coach holding an UEFA A Licence Coach, and he also possesses an FA Youth Coaches Award and English FA Coach Educators Award.

The records also show he had also played for Chelsea as a professional player and various non-league semi-professional clubs.

The same is for Ose Aibange, who had previously been with Arsenal FC and the Beckham academy.

However, his name does not appear in line-up of managers of the Premier side, league Tottenham Hotspur.

The GSB vice-president Jack Pemba introduced the two coaches to the media on Wednesday and they were quoted as saying they were highly impressed by Tanzanian national team--Taifa Stars.

At least three newspapers reported yesterday that Bookman was an assistant to charismatic Jose Mourinho of England champions Chelsea.

The 'Daily News', whose phone lines were almost jammed by a barrage of local and international calls demanding clarification on the issue, had decided to dig deeper to clear the air, with success.

The full line-up of the 20 people on Chelsea's club management team, include assistant managers and coaches to Mourinho are Baltemar Brito and Steve Clarke.

Assistant managers are Silvino Louro (Goal keeping coach) and Andre Villas (Assistant coach scout). Others are Rui Faria (fitness coach), Ade Mafe (assistant fitness coach), Mick McGiven (Reserve team coach) and Brendan Rodgers (Youth team coach).
