Soaring to New Heights!
©Born Again Pagan
Oh, Tanzania,
Once East Africa’s Cinderella,
You have come a long way,
Baby!
Ukienda na wakati,
To new heights proudly soar,
Along three symbolic imagery loci:
Providence-planted soaring mount
Providence-reared soaring animal
Artificially-made soaring vessel
Our soaring metaphors!
Soar to new heights,
Like spectacular Mount Kilimanjaro
On our soil Africa’s rooftop;
Like inherited colonial heraldry
Of Giraffe (Tanganyika)
Over savannah thorny acacia trees;
Like inherited colonial heraldry
Of the majestic Dhow (Zanzibar)
In the Ocean tranquil sailing!
Our beloved Tanzania,
Soar to evoke
Tickling jingh’umbu (homesickness)
Kwa aliye majuu to sing or hum:
Tanzania, nakutamani
Hata nikiwa nchi za mbali
Furaha haiishi moyoni!
Samaki wa kwetu wanono
Si kama wa huku niliko!
Tanzania I adore thee
Though in faraway country
In my heart
The joy doesn't diminish;
Our fishes are sweet
Unlike of current residence!
Our beloved Tanzania,
Soar to instill sense of physical
Or geographical belongingness
Into him/her aliye majuu
Aisogelee Tanzania patriotically
And sing or hum:
Tanzania, Tanzania,
Nakupenda kwa moyo wote
Nilalapo nakuota
Jina lako ni tamu sana !
Tanzania, Tanzania,
Assiduously I love thee,
I dream about you when asleep;
Your so sweet a name douses me!
Oh, beloved Tanzania,
Once East Africa’s sleeping giant,
Soar to new heights chidwedye
For us to carnival romp in style),
Like our jipala (gazelles)!
Soar Tanzania
To your deserving new heights;
Chibhine (let's dance)
Amid okukiririsya kwa abhagasi
(Women ululation)!
Soar Tanzania
To awake resting ancestral spirits
In Olduvai Gorge volcanism
To dance;
Dance immortal spirits
For the spirits
Of the schematic painters
Of Kondoa-Irangi to dance, too!
In one accord,
Chibhine to Maji Maji heroes
And to all the heroes
Who perfected our Uhuru
To make this day a possibility!
Chibhine to Wasukuma brave song:
Oo, sansi jabhila mitwe
Reflecting common work ethics
Of increased productivity:
Oo, Watanzania,
Tunajenga nchi!
Ari mpya, nguvu mpya na kasi mpya,
Empower our only beloved country
To soar to new heights amid lessons
From our sister states’ mistakes:
Imbroglios of civil wars
Leading to wanton killings,
Tortures, rapes, banditry,
Unbecoming lawlessness acts
And habits
Of embezzlement of donor funds
Intended for preventive measures
Against HIV/AIDS pandemic
And menacing tropical diseases!
Let’s have the courage
To stand up all;
Like rain-drenched chickens,
Chikukumure (let’s shake off)
Arresting poverty shackles!
Vijana,
Vifua mbele kama askari,
Kazi kwenu sasa!
Empower ari mpya
To have rhythm
For all to dance;
Let it exhale performance aura!
Empower nguvu mpya
To illustrate compassion
To wazee who sweated
To make your today's horizon
An envy to reckon with!
Empower kasi mpya
To pick up momentum
With germinal capacity
Towards uplifting wananchi all
To benefit and enjoy the good life!
Uplift wananchi all
To raise the levels
Of acquiring basic goods
For the body:
Food and drinks, sleep,
Clothing and shelter.
Wasomi wote,
Uplift wananchi beyond basic needs,
Beyond mere existence,
Beyond animal kingdom!
Let wananchi not only live,
But, rather, live well
In enjoyment and pleasure
Through acquisition of goods
For the mind:
Information and knowledge,
Understanding and wisdom!
Our respective resolve
Let us re-dedicate,
And put all our hearts together
In building our only one Tanzania
Kwa kumuenzi Mwalimu’s
Eve of Tanganyikan independence,
Prophetic world declaration,
Loudly and clearly:
We (the people of Tanganyika)
Shall light a torch and put it
On the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro,
To shine
Beyond our borders
Giving hope
Where there was despair;
Love
Where there was hate;
And dignity
Where there was before humiliation.
That prophetic declaration garbed
Our leadership values and ethos
Of Hekima, Umoja na Amani
As societal shields
On our Court of Arms inscribed
In unwavering peace statement
Of Uhuru na Umoja
That Africa’s coveted envy!
Tanzanians all
Wake kwa waume na watoto
Ari mpya, nguvu mpya na kasi mpya
Reminisce Mwalimu’s
Later concerted efforts call
Of building Tanzania:
It Can Be Done; Play Your Part!
That call pinched our hearts
Telescoping arduous
And daunting tasks ahead
In our reforms, transition,
Transformation and change.
At this juncture,
Amid thunderous thanksgivings
Of 45-year Uhuru Anniversary,
With short benediction
It is fitting to end,
Along the legendary tune
Of one of African beloved children,
Enoch Makanyi Sentonga,
In his beloved South African soil
His body now resting:
Mungu Ibariki Afrika…
Mungu Ibariki Tanzania…!
Fantastic!
Hao FFU na Polisi naona wao pia wameshindwa kujizuia kumwangalia JK.... Baab Kubwa
ReplyDeleteAidha kiulinzi walipaswa kuangalia upande wa jukwaa walipokaa wananchi..
