I thought you may be interested to know what the group of 77 and China had to say about the appointment of Hon. Dr. Asha-Rose Mtegeti Migiro. I believe as Tanzanians we need to be very proud of this appointment. It is an achievement for His Excellency the President of Tanzania Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete and all Tanzanians.
We now have a duty to fully support her work.
STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE GROUP OF 77 AND CHINA WELCOMING THE APPOINTMENT OF DR ASHA-ROSE MTENGETI-MIGIRO TO THE POSITION OF DEPUTY SECRETARY-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS

The Group of 77 and China welcomes the appointment by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon of Dr Asha-Rose Mtengeti-Migiro to the position of Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations.
Dr Mtengeti-Migiro is currently Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania.
“The Group of 77 and China is pleased that Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed a person from a developing country for such an important position. Having served in various important capacities, Dr Mtengeti-Migiro will bring a wealth of managerial and practical experience accumulated from addressing issues of development, peace and security.
The fact that Minister Mtengeti-Migiro is also a woman will contribute to the goal of improving gender balance in the Organisation, in particular at senior levels, as well as to ensure that staff reflects the international character of the Membership of the United Nations,” said Ambassador Dumisani S. Kumalo, Chairman of the Group of 77 and China.
The Group of 77 and China looks forward to working with Deputy Secretary-General Mtengeti-Migiro and wishes to assure her of our support throughout her term in office.
We also wish to pay tribute to the former Deputy Secretary-General, Mr. Mark Malloch Brown, for his dedication to the Organisation and we wish him well in his future endeavours.

Michuzi were these T-shirts really necessary? I believe it must have cost a great fortune to print them out,and its so surprizing that they were done so fast.The money that was spend on these t-shirts,why not donate it to an orphanage,poor people and all the like.I really hurts me.I think we should think twice before taking such actions.

Ama kweli we Africans we have a serious problems na ubongo wetu...This appointment is good and good for her! Period. Ofcourse kama Watanzania, its good for our image in international affairs...She is just an international civil servant like any other person. Kofi amebadirisha nini Africa in his ten years? Jamani fanyeni kazi kwa bidii..mafanikio sio mpaka ubebwe!! Anybody can succeed, its just hard work and determination. Kwa wale wenzangu na mimi ambao hatuna wa "kutuvuta" tukaze msuli kama unaqualify..ukaaply for a post popote..utapewa kazi tuu..sio mpaka wote tuwe appointed!!! They are not the one who chosen for that position ….so chillin’ out guys. It shows how much some people don't like to see other people success. If she lend a hand to her family for anything due to this post that is even superb. It is her relatives and that is what family are there for. Fo those of you who couldn’t stop drinking water when you heard about this big success should work harder so you can pull your family out of that little shack.

We should be proud for someone to be selected from our nation among so many candidates out there. It is a big achievement for our country and for all women in this world in general. Those who compare her to Kofi don’t even know the difference between them. You have to remember she is a deputy secretary. Let us be proud of her instead of just sitting down and start talking nonsense.

ReplyDeleteNimeshituliwa sana na manoni mengine nilioyaona. Radhia Mtengeti ni mzalendo alijitolea nchi yake na aimwakilisha nchi hadi makao makuu ya Umoja wa Mataifa. Na sasa dada yake nae aimiimarisha familia yake kwa kuiwakilisha zaidi nchi yake. Pia familia nzima imejitolea nafsi yao kwa kuisaidia nchi kila iwezavyo. In niuma sana nikisikia Watanzania wenzangu wawashitumu wale wanao jihimili kuiimarisha nchi yao kwasababu nchi inamitihani mingi dhidi yake na ushirikiano ni muhimu kama jitihada zetu za kujibeba na kijisaidia zita zaa matunda. Hongera sana kwa ndugu Dr. Asha Rose Migiro na kwa wote watako jitolea mhanga kwa maendeleo ya jamii yetu.
