  2. Dear Arlene,

    "Riziki ni mafungu kutoka kwa Mungu" translated literally (ie, word-by-word following the Swahili syntax) would be "Riches are heaps(or bundles) from God"

    But translated in the right context it means "Riches come in stages from God"

    Welcome again to Tanzania.

    Yours
    Rafiki

  5. Hi Arlene,

    Before I translate the sentence, let me give you the meaning of each word.

    Riziki means "Reward"/"Gift"
    Ni means "Is"
    Mafungu means bundles (singular is Fungu)

    Kutoka means "From"
    Kwa means "The"
    Mungu means "God"

    However based on the sentence itself, the word bundle could be replaced by the word gifts or parcels to give more meaning.

    So in a simple translation, we can say "Reward is a Gift from God" OR

    " Reward is a Parcel from God"

    Thanks,

    Matola

  10. Dear Arlene,

    Riziki = Our daily bread (what is meant for you to have/own)
    ni = is
    mafungu = smaller pieces put together...
    toka kwa = from...
    Mungu = God

    Go on put them words together...swahili comes in mafungu ya mafumbo!

    Imani - bham

  12. Nadhani kuna tafsiri za aina mbili kwenye usemi huu wa "Riziki ni mafungu kutoka kwa Mungu".

    Kwanza ni kutafsiri hoja yenyewe, ambayo ni "God provides for your daily needs through his own mysterious ways".

    Na pili ni kuyatafsiri maneno yenyewe "The receipt of daily bread is God's riddle".

    Pengine wadau wengine watapenda kuchangia zaidi?

  14. Hi Arlene

    I will also try to help to the best of my knowledge,I was born and raised by swahili family and these are mainly coastal people and not kiswahili as a language and they use phrases in their daily life,you might be left out if you dont understand the phrases,riziki as I know it,is destiny in terms of your wealth and this could be riches or rags,is quite simply your possession whether big or small comes from God and it comes in portions.And the swahili also say or believe the portions comes in stages which they believe there's 7 when they will come nobody know.
    I hope it's useful information for you.

  15. hahahaha huyu anaongea kiingereza kigumu.Kweli hapa si Michuzi tu ambaye inglish is not richebo.Wala sitaki kujiingiza kwenye huu mjadala.

  16. Leo nimesoma vituko Michuzi,hata nilichokua nataka changia imebidi nisichangie.

    Maana wachangiaji naona wametoa sumu kabisa,binafsi sidhani kama wanaukweli. Maana RIZIKI NI MAFUNGU TOKA KWA MUNGU.

Chris.

  17. wadau wengine wamenichekesha kweli,huyu Arlene inaonyesha si mswahili anaomba maana,halafu waswahili wanatoa maelezo kwa kiswahili hamuoni mnazidi kumchanginyi.

  18. kuna mtu anajiita matola amesema neno 'kwa' in english ni 'the', is this right?????

    i think Arlene has got the idea on what it means

  19. kweli kaka umesema wazi inglish is not reachable lakini na kiswahili je?

If someone close the door here, God open the window there. Kwa hiyo RIZIKI MAFUNGU SABA inawiana sana na msamiati huo pia.

  23. jamani hii mijadara ya vingereza msinihusishe kabisaaaa.sitaki nimesema.

  24. BWANAE MAMBO MENGINE NI KAMA CHEMSHA BONGO FLAN HIVI ANYWAY NAMI NGOJA NI TRY KUMSHAIDIA HUYU DADA AU KUMCHANGANYA KAMA WALIVYO FANYA WENGINE

    RIZIKI = BLESSINGS
    MAFUNGU= BANDLES
    SO RIZIKI NI MAFUNGU TOKA KWA MUNGU MEANS BLESSINGS COMES IN BANDLES FROM GOD; NAMI NIMEJARIBU KAMA HAJELEWA SHAURI YAKE

    LUKAMBA

  25. Bw. michuzi hilo fumbo halina tafsiri ya moja kwa moja. Hilo fumbo ni sawa na methali hizi mbili za kiingereza:

    1.Every dog has has its day.
    2.Every cloud has a silver lining.

    Hii maana yake ni kwamba kila mtu ana shea yake ya bahati/riziki toka kwa mungu.

    Mtumie hizo methali mbili za kizungu umwambie kwamba hayo maandishi ya kwenye kanga yake ni sawa ha hizo methali mbili za kizungu (lugha yake).
