SENIOR RESEARCHER (2 Posts)
Objective and scope
This is a senior technical and professional role within the diverse areas of social and economic research. The overall objective of the role is to effectively contribute to research design and conducting research in line with REPOA’s mandate. The incumbent also represents REPOA in various research and advocacy forums in line with the organization’s strategic objectives and priorities.
Duties and responsibilities:
I. Provide technical inputs and support to the team of researchers in various research areas/assignments
II. Develop concept notes, terms of reference and other guidelines for various research assignments
III. Develop appropriate research design/methodology for various research assignments
IV. Prepare expressions of interest and research proposals in response of restricted or open invitations from third parties in areas relevant to REPOA’s mandate
V. Train Research Assistants, Assistant Researchers and Researchers and manage fieldwork and ensure effective data processing for various research assignments
VI. Report progress of on going activities in his/her research area
VII. Participate in working groups for various research assignments where applicable
VIII. Participate in selective and strategic policy forums, both within the country, regional, and international
IX. Participate in various committees at national and regional levels as shall be deemed strategic to the institution’s mandate Perform any other duties as may be assigned by his/her supervisor
Qualifications and Experience:
A prospective candidate should have a Masters degree in Social Sciences from a recognized University and work experience of at least ten years, with a profound experience in conducting research OR PhD in a relevant field.
ASSISTANT RESEARCHER (2 Posts)
Objective and scope
The overall objective of this role is to support research activities within the institution by taking an active role in research works. The incumbent is expected to grow professionally through a systematic career development scheme to higher levels within the research function.
Duties and responsibilities:
I. Participate in data collection for various researches through various ways such as documentary review, interviews, administration of questionnaires etc.
II. Carry out data entry into the data base in the agreed format
III. Support coordination of training for various groups
IV. Support in preparation of various publications such newsletters
V. Updating data base of contacts for various stakeholders
VI. Cleaning up the data in the data base
VII. Participate in the preparation of data base especially in determining the structure and composition of the data base
VIII. Assist in data analysis for various research assignments, and
IX. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by his/her a supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience:
An ideal candidate for this position should have a good bachelor’s degree with proven experience in research for at least three years and should work towards attaining a good Masters Degree within a specifies period of time OR should have a good masters degree in any field from a recognized institution.
