ReplyDeleteThe proper term of the head of the government of Spain is PRESIDENTE DEL GOBIERNO DE ESPANA = PRESIDENT OF THE GOVERNMENT OF SPAIN, some people they call him the prome minister that is wrong according to the consititution of Spain as there is no such position in Spain but very regularly is being address like that as Spain is a Mornach country headed by the King. Read the following article please if you can:
ReplyDelete"José Luis RodrÃguez Zapatero
President of the Government and Secretary General of the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party)
José Luis RodrÃguez Zapatero gained the general elections March 14th, 2004, after a campaign which was marked by the Islamic attacks on the 11th in which a hundred ninety people died. It is on account of this event that some voices raises themselves against them arguing that they did not gain the elections by their own media, but by the bad management of the government of Aznar during the crisis. Nevertheless since the Spanish Socialist Party, (progressive party) that he presides, is affirmed that the victory was obtained for own media. In the time that he has being at front of the government, one of his most important actions has been the retreat of the Spanish troops in Iraq and the approach to the positions of France and Germany. Besides he is prompting certain changes of progressive color in laws that affect the education, the divorce or the marriage among homosexuals. Also his government is promising a law against the abuses on women and the reduction on contaminant gases to be able to reach the objectives of the convention of Kyoto. Nevertheless, the socialists maintain nearby positions to the previous conservative government in themes such as the economy. Zapatero was elected as secretary general of the PSOE at the party's 35th convention in July, 2000. His appointment was seen to symbolize the "Generation Next" of the historical Spanish socialist party, which following charismatic former premier Felipe González's resignation as party boss in 1997 was suffering an accute image and leadership problem.
Born in the city of Valladolid on August 4, 1960, Rodriguez Zapatero studied Law, but - aside from a stint as a law teacher - has devoted his entire life to politics, within the Spanish socialist party. From a family with left-wing ideas (his grandfather was a Republican captain who was executed by the Nationalists at the start of the Spanish Civil War in 1936), he first became fascinated with politics when he attended his first political rally in Gijón (Asturias) in 1977, when Spain was about to hold its first democratic elections following the death of dictator Franco. The speaker was a young Felipe González, and Rodriguez Zapatero was mesmerized. The following year, he joined the socialist party.
In 1982, he headed the socialist youth organization in his home province of León (north-western Spain). In 1986, he became the youngest member of parliament in Spain when he won a seat representing the province. In 1988 he was elected to head the regional chapter of the socialist party in León, and in 1997 he was appointed to the Federal Executive Committee, the party's governing body.
Ideologically, RodrÃguez Zapatero is a moderate, closer to social democracy than socialism.
Rodriguez Zapatero married in 1990, and has two daughters. His hobbies are jogging and trout fishing"
According to Spain's Consitution there is no Prime Minister in Spain, although the country is under Monarch and the King is the head of the country and is the one who make a confirmation of the President and normal comes frm the party with majority member of the Congress/WABUNGE. ReplyDelete"José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero is the President of Spain.
Spain's president, known as "Zapatero" although his full surnames in Rodriguez Zapatero, is married and has two daughters. He is fiercely private about his private life, and unlike his predecesor Aznar, is reluctant to pose for family pictures for the press. His wife maintains a very discreet presence at official events and receptions, and keeps out of the limelight as much as possible. When he became President of the Spanish Government, Zapatero asked the Spanish media to respect the privacy of his wife and daughters. And to a great extent, the media has respected his wish.
President of Spain or Prime Minister? In theory, the president of Spain is not a president at all. Spain is a constututional monarchy, the King is the Head of State and has to approve the appointment of the head of government who, in other constitutional monarchies, would be referred to as prime minister.
However, the Spanish constitution refers to the leader of government as president, and so do Spaniards, Spanish media and protocol. All leaders of Spain's regional autonomies are known as "presidents" too.
We have been unable to find any reason behind this. Before the Spanish Civil War Spain had a President, but of course at that time the country was a Republic. Maybe the experts and politicians who took part in drawing up the present constitution after Franco's death "president" had symbolic value (Franco preferred to be called General during his dictatorship) among Spaniards yearning to complete the transition from dictatorship to democracy. Whatever the reason, although José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero is often called "prime minister" by foreign media, but is not, is the president of Spain, within his own country he is known as the President of Spain or Presidente of Government according to Spanish law and consitution.

As many leaders of Africa including our President of Republic of Tanzania in Spain to discuss progress of Africa. Why are they decided this meeting to be held in Spain instead of any country of Africa. We know Spain is in Europe.Have you heard any European countries conducting progressive meetings in African countries. It's our time to wake up.
