SuperSport secures vital
Tanzania Cup of Nations tie
Tanzania coach Jan Poulsen will be hoping his side continue their fine start to their 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualification Group D campaign when they host Morocco at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, a match you can see live on your World of Champions from 4pm.
The Taifa Stars secured an excellent 1-1 away draw against 2010 World Cup finalists Algeria in their pool opener last month, and will be hoping to build on that result against another side from north Africa in the form of the Atlas Lions.
The Dane Poulsen has made a number of changes to his squad though, some enforced, others by choice.
He has lost his goalscorer against the Algerians, Abdi Kassim, to injury, while the likes of fullback Juma Jabu, midfielders Athumani Idd and Abdulhalim Humoud, centreback Kelvin Yondan and striker Jerryson Tegete all miss out on selection.
There are, however, some new faces for Stars fans to look out for, including goalkeeper Said Mohamed, full-backs Haruna Shamte and Salmin Kiss, and midfielder Salum Machaku.
In contrast to Tanzania's fine start to the qualification campaign, Morocco were stunned at home in their opener by the Central African Republic – ranked number 202 in the world at the time – who held them to a 0-0 draw in Rabat.
The team has not been helped by the uncertainty over Eric Gerets, who has officially been appointed coach of the Moroccan national side, but will likely continue in his role as tactician for Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal until they have completed their AFC Champions League campaign, where they are in the semifinals.
That means he will once again not be on the bench against Tanzania, but has selected the 22-man squad of players, as he did against Central Africa.
The side will be led on the day by caretaker coach Dominic Cuperly, and will feature star man and leading striker Marouane Chamakh, who has made a good start to the English Premiership campaign with Arsenal following a close-season move from Bordeaux in Ligue 1.
There is also a recall for QPR midfielder Adel Taarabt, while defender Ahmed Kantari returns to the national team after an absence of five years, and striker Youssef Kadiu Al Idrissi is back after six as Morocco seek to boost their struggling front-line.
