Invitation to Christmas Gospel Concert
at Msasani Lutheran Church
Saturday November 27 at 7 pm singers and musicians from Tanzania and Norway will share the stage in the Msasani Lutheran Church in Dar es salaam.
The Royal Norwegian Embassy and the Msasani Lutheran Church are proud to host the Christmas Gospel Concert featuring Kijitonyama Upendo Choir and gospel artists from Oslo Gospel Choir, Norway.
The main aim of the concert is for the general public to enjoy the fruits of the collaboration between Tanzania and Norway, which spans over more than 40 years.
The concert will start with an introduction by the Norwegian Ambassador designate Ingunn Klepsvik and Reverend George Fupe, before the artists will indulge the audience with cheerful gospel and traditional Christmas music. The artists, who have been rehearsing together the whole week, will perform in Swahili, Norwegian and English. On the repertoire are well know Christmas songs, like Oh Holy Night, and after the concert traditional Norwegian glüwein and gingerbread will be served outside the church.
Kijitonyama Upendo Choir is one of Tanzania’s most popular gospel choirs, and has just arrived from a tour in Germany.
The Norwegian singers, Ingelin Reigstad Norheim and Hildegunn Garnes Reigstad, did last Christmas release a Christmas CD which became one of the most popular in Norway. The twin sisters have been singing with Norway’s most known gospel choir, Oslo Gospel Choir, and also have their own group, Garness.
The two groups will also perform together during the Sunday morning service at Msasani Lutheran Church the 28 November, before completing their two day gospel feat at St. Peters Church.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact the media coordinator for the concert, Paul John Kibu (mob. 0758461230).
Looking forward to seeing you!
