Ndugu, wadau, friends, and colleagues,
I have been forced to move the climb dates two weeks ahead because of
administrative constraints. I have been in touch with Jaffar Amin to
suggest the postponement and he informed me he has contracted
influenza and this is an even more compelling reason to postpone the
commencement date to allow him to recover.
Experts do not recommend climbing Kilimanjaro with flu-like symptoms.
I am not an expert but I have read enough advice to know the basics.
The two beneficiaries of this year’s climb, the Chief Edward Wanzagi
Girls’ Secondary School, and the Bukoba Disabled Assistance Group are
not affected by influenza and neither are their bank accounts. I
continue to appeal to you to channel those donations to either one or
both beneficiaries.
