Ambassador Lenhardt (center) with coordinators and managers of community-based projects that received the grants.On Monday, December 13,2010 at the U.S. Embassy in Dar es Salaam, the U.S. Ambassador to Tanzania Alfonso E. Lenhardt presented grants totaling Tsh.190 million to fifteen community-based organizations from Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Iringa, Kagera, Mafia, Manyara, Morogoro, Mwanza, Ruvuma and Zanzibar.
The grants provided by the Ambassador's Self-Help Fund and Ambassador's Fund for HIV/AIDS Relief will be used to support communities in their commerce, education and water and sanitation projects as well as in programs to support care-givers affected by HIV and those supporting orphans and vulnerable children.
