Mkurugenzi wa Masoko na Mawasiliano wa Benki ya Watu wa Zanzibar (PBZ), Said Said (kulia) akizungumza na waandishi wa habari Dar es Salaam jana kuhusu udhamini wao katika mradi wa kuisaidia timu ya soka ya Zanzibar ‘Zanzibar Heroes’ na pia katika hafla ya uchangiaji wa timu hiyo iliyofanyika mjini Zanzibar hivi karibuni. The Zanzibar Heroes Fundraising Gala Dinner which was held at the magnificent Zanzibar Beach Resort on 26th March, 2011 with his Excellency, Hon. Dr. Ali Mohammed Shein as the guest of honour was a major success. Future Century Sports Limited managed to raise the targeted USD 200,000 during the Zanzibar Heroes Fundraising Gala Dinner. The event was embraced by not only the government and local authorities, but also private and international cooperations.
The confirmed amount that was raised during the event was a total raised a total of Tsh 86,841,000 through pledges and auctions, amongst the pledges was Tsh 5,000,000 by Azam Football Club, Tsh 6,000,000 by Carl Salisbury, USD 4,000,000 by Zanzibar Ports Cooperation, and USD 4,000,000 by the People’s Bank of Zanzibar which totalled totalled to Tsh 39,981,000 and USD 8,300.
The auction raised Tsh 28,000,000 and USD 500; where Abubakar Bakhresa bid for jersey signed by the president at the event for Tsh 10,000,000, jersey signed by the Zanzibar Heroes was taken by the Zanzibar Ports Cooperation at Tsh 2,000,000, the PVR Decoder donated by Multi-Choice Tanzania was bid by People’s Bank of Zanzibar at Tsh 2,000,000.
The camera donate by Afforadable Housing was in fact taken by Afforadable Housing at USD 500. The two portraits of the President of Zanzibar, that was signed during the dinner were taken by Zanzibar Beach Resort and Zanibar Ports Cooperation at Tsh 8,000,000 each. Amongst donations in kind include free housing by Ahmada Yahya Wakili for the National Coach Housing at a value of USD 9,600, Creation of monthly TV show on Zanzibar football by SuperSport International and coverage by Multichoice Magazine.
The progress of acquiring the pledges put forward during the event are positive, Future Century Sports Limited are acquiring all the pledges as per dates given by the guests.

Zanzibar Ports Cooperation has invited to host a friendly match between the Zanzibar Heroes and the Ports Cooperation team. The Zanzibar Ports Cooperation has been a deep asset during the event. Future Century would like to personally appreciate the efforts made by the cooperation and the managing director could not be present during the press conference due to other commitments.
Future Century Sports Limited are planning a similar fundraising gala dinner in the mainland in June and are awaiting for confirmation from people responsible.
