Acting Public Affairs Officer Roberto Quiroz II (left) recently welcomed Ilala Mayor Jerry Silaa (right) to the U.S. Embassy in Dar es Salaam to discuss his upcoming trip to the U.S. from July 25-August 12, 2011 under the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP). As a participant of the "Accountability in Government" program, Mayor Silaa will join leaders from other African nations in visits to Washington, D.C., and the states of Illinois, Montana, and Texas.
Mr. Quiroz thanked Mayor Silaa for his participation in the program and noted: "As President Obama said last year at the 2010 Forum with Young African Leaders at the White House, the U.S. is committed to partnering with young leaders across all sectors of society. We support their hopes and aspirations to effect positive change in their communities and to empower others. We are truly honored to welcome Mayor Silaa to the United States.
