Mount Meru Hotel invests in their assets - their staff

The world of business today is extremely competitive and cut-throat. Economists preach protecting your assets and investing them well in order to have a successful and thriving business during these tough financial times. But business people often misunderstand the concept of investing in their most precious assets, as assets are not the products that are sold or the services that are rendered, but the people who push the products, the workers who render the services people have come to depend upon.

At the newly spruced up Mount Meru Hotel, they firmly believe in enhancing the hotel, the functionality and sparkle guests have come to value from them, by empowering their staff members and promoting from within, before looking outside. They truly invest in their most precious assets – their staff.

At the re-opening of the Hotel in December 2010, Anton Perold, director of Karibu Hospitality, management company of the Mount Meru Hotel, pledged that they were committed to increase the company’s competitiveness and success by promoting from within. They wanted to empower their staff members who had proven loyalty to the hotel, who had put their hearts into their work and weathered the transition period whilst launching the new and improved Mount Meru Hotel.

Recently Karibu’s vision was strengthened when the new Sales & Marketing team for the Mount Meru hotel was announced. Proud staff members gathered as the announcements were made by Anton Perold. Karibu Hospitality also hosts monthly staff awards where staff members who go above and beyond the call of duty, are celebrated and treated to snacks and drinks. Staff members also have their very own staff lounge where they can relax and unwind.

The succesful recipients of the promotions were Rodney Rugambo, previously Chief Concierge was promoted to the position of Trainee Sales & Marketing Manager. Ben Gitarda, previously a Graphic Designer was promoted to the position of Sales & Marketing Administrator. Michael Kunda Kimaro, previously Chief Doorman was promoted to Head Concierge and Farida Khatib, previously Guest Relations Officer will now also report to the Sales & Marketing team.

When asked about the promotions, Perold answered, “these promotions serve as a confirmation of our company development philosophy which propagates internal promotions by the recognition to the staff members’ exceptional hard work, dedication and growth potential in their current responsibilities. We all wish Rodney, Ben, Michael and Farida the very best of luck with their new responsibilities and guarantee continuous training and support to ensure continued success and job satisfaction.”
