Stella Mpanda a veteran nurse midwife and CSI Tanzania Country Director highlights on the importance of skilled birth attendants to have necessary medical supplies to ensure safe childbirths in health facilities.
On November 30th, December 2nd, and December 3rd, pregnant women in three hospitals in Tanzania were fortunate to receive some well-needed gifts. CSI donated 100 sterile childbirth kits to Amana Hospital, 50 kits to Mwananyamala Hospital, and 50 kits to Temeke Hospital, respectively.
Each kit contains all necessary supplies such as gloves, umbilical clamps, placenta bag, & more and costs $7 equivalent to 15,000 Tanzania shillings. Through generous donations from individuals and Rotary International, to date, CSI has distributed more than 250 sterile childbirth kits.
While CSI Team recognizes the need is greater and more kits are needed; midwives, nurses, physicians, and most importantly the pregnant women appreciate very much and remain with the hope that CSI shall return soon with additional kits and life-saving medicines.
