Huawei Technologies Tanzania has donated ICT Laboratory to DIT as part of Corporate Social Responsibility and ICT Talents cultivation program. The Huawei ICT Laboratory will have advanced equipment and good environment for students to practice in real time. Together with Huawei Tanzania’s Chief Executive Officer Mr Frank Zhou, Hon Elias Kwandikwa Deputy Minister, Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication who represented Hon. Kassim Majaliwa Majaliwa (MP), Prime Minister of Tanzania, opened the Huawei ICT Laboratory at the DIT Campuses.
The year 2015 culminated the existing cooperation between Dar Es Salaam Institute of
Technology and Huawei Technology Tanzania. The two were shared a mutual bond
centering of Information Communication Technology and together they set out building
an ecosystem for improving the ICT Industry in Tanzania.
HUAWEI understands the sheer importance of having to train and research constantly in
order to develop better talents and better solutions. This is the reasoning behind donating
the first Huawei ICT Laboratory in DIT complete with equipment that will spark the
innovative minds of the youth in Tanzania. This will allow students to have first-hand
access to practical usage of what they learn about.
HUAWEI has undoubtedly used its resources for a noble cause by partnering and
supporting Tanzanian Universities, Colleges and Institutions with various programs and
aids which helps in knowledge transfer and ICT skills advancement for the students as
well as the teachers. Flagship international programs like the well know ICT competition
and Seeds for the future have been soaring in Tanzania pioneered by Huawei.
These efforts help shape the Tanzanian youth talents in today’s ICT Industry not only in
Africa but then again in the global stage. We’ve seen this evidently when Tanzania won
the 1st prize in the 2018/2019 ICT competition when competing with fellow university
students from the sub Saharan region.
These efforts have certainly shown an elaborate attempt by HUAWEI to boost ICT
awareness as part of the development of Tanzania. ICT is considered a vital part in any
growing economy and it is through technological adoption and innovation that developing
countries can take the next step forward.
Tanzania is moving at great speeds and HUAWEI
wants to make sure ICT is not left behind when the race to 2025 middle income economy
takes off!
