Emirates has appointed Mr Abdulla Adnan as the new country manager for Tanzania.
The role, effective from July 2022, sees Mr Adnan leading the airline’s operations, customer sales and promotions, cargo, and airport operations, besides overseeing key stakeholder relations in Tanzania. He will be tasked to maximise revenue opportunities and help further grow Emirates’ leadership position through meeting and exceeding customer expectations across various in-market touchpoints.
Mr Adnan first joined Emirates in 2015 as a Commercial Support Manager in Dubai, the airline’s hub. He later led Emirates operations in Cambodia, where he is credited with consolidating Emirates’ presence across the country by enhancing capacity to serve passenger demand. He returned to Dubai to serve as a Commercial Manager again until June this year.
Adnan Kazim, Chief Commercial Officer for Emirates Airline said: “We have a pool of great talent who are United Arab Emirates (UAE) nationals, and we continue to invest in them and provide them with growth opportunities to take their careers to the next level. Our hope is to build a strong leadership pipeline that will support the UAE’s strategic economic vision and drive Emirates and UAE aviation into the next 50 years of growth.”
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Adnan had this to say: “I look forward to working with Tanzanian stakeholders to build on the great foundations already established and enhance the growth potential in the market as the airline responds to shifting market dynamics and navigates the complex challenges posed by the global pandemic.”
The new Country Manager who takes over from Mr Majid Al Falasi, holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and International Business from the American University of Ras Al Khaimah. The latter has taken up …… in Sudan.
Emirates operates five passenger flights a week between Dar es Salaam and Dubai on its Boeing 777-300ER has been in business in Tanzania for almost 25 years.
By the turn of the millennium, Emirates had grown its global network to 50 destination cities and Dar es Salaam was added as an Emirates’ destination in 1997.
