The results underline Vodacom’s continued focus on profitable growth and long‑term value creation, while maintaining consistent investment to strengthen network quality, expand digital services and support inclusive economic development in Tanzania.
As the only publicly listed telecommunications company in the country, Vodacom highlighted its consistent financial performance and transparency despite ongoing geopolitical pressures and industry disruptions. The company reaffirmed its role as a credible, reliable corporate partner and a responsible contributor to national development, having operated continuously in Tanzania under the Vodacom brand for 25 years.
Speaking on the preliminary financial results for the year ended March 2026, Vodacom Tanzania’s Chief Executive Officer, Philip Besiimire, said the company delivered sustained profitability supported by excellent strategy execution and stable business environment.
Service revenue grew by 21.8% to TZS 1.85 trillion, underpinned by growth in customers and increased service uptake. As a result, net profit after tax increased by 18.4% to TZS 107.1 billion, with an underlying net profit of TZS 204.1 billion excluding temporary one-off cost relating to radio access network modernization. This reflects continued momentum across Vodacom’s core revenue streams and robust cost containment.

The CEO further detailed “M‑Pesa revenue grew by 24.5%, driven by increased adoption of our services like lending, savings and merchant payments, while data revenue grew by 29.5% a result of increased data customers and smartphone users, supported by investments”.
Guided by its purpose of connecting Tanzanians for a better future, Vodacom continued to invest in social impact initiatives, including free health check camps, ICT modernization in schools, tree‑planting programmes and the Twende Butiama cycling tour, strengthening community engagement and social impact.
