Wananchi,
As of today, this is what we know.
On Wednesday May 16th, 2007 The Tanzanian Embassy in Washington DC called Mr. Juma Maswanya of Houston, TX and explained that the Harris County medical examiner’s office in Houston had a body of someone suspected to be Tanzanian.
The Embassy explained that the name of the deceased was John Robert Butunga. His name was established using his driver’s license. The Embassy then asked Juma to ask community members if any Tanzanian by that name was missing.
After making several phone calls, Juma was able to establish that John was a Tanzanian who has a sister in Houston by the name of Clara Moshi. Clara had not seen or spoken to John in several weeks and had been looking for him. Juma put Clara in contact with the Embassy.
After confirming Clara’s relation to John, the Embassy instructed Clara to call the medical examiner’s office to get more information about her brother.
The medical examiner’s office explained to Clara that John had been found dead at his apartment located on the north side of Houston on April 12th, 2007. He had a wound on the back of his head.
The medical examiner’s office also explained that relevant samples had been obtained and tests were still being conducted to determine cause of death. Clara was informed that the process of determining cause of death will take anywhere from 90 to 120 days. Clara was also told that since all necessary samples have been obtained, she is free to take possession of the body and ship it to Tanzania at her convinience.
Once the medical examiner’s office completes their tests, an official document with the findings will be sent to our Embassy in DC and John’s family.
We believe that our Embassy and John’s family will seek answers to any unanswered questions once a report is received from the Harris County medical examiner’s office.
Please understand that at this time the main objective of Tanzanians in Houston is to ship John to Arusha so that he can lay in peace.
We have estimated that $17,000 is needed to ship john to Tanzania.
You can submit your contribution in several different ways.

Hive TX hamna Social network groups. Mbona mko wengi tu tena kutoka TZ?
