STEVEN GERRARD has proved he's top of the class off the pitch as well as on it after being handed a degree by a leading university.
The England midfielder, 26, received an honourary fellowship to mark his contribution to sport from the Liverpool John Moores University during a ceremony at the city's Anglican cathedral.
Gerrard said: I am very proud to become a fellow of Liverpool John Moores University.
"Not only has the university done so much for the city and people of Liverpool but it has given the science of football international credibility.
"It is an honour to be recognised with this award."
