We here at Dusome, would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year 2009, also would like to thank you for your support throughout the year 2008.
I read two books this year that inspired me so much that a baby called Dusome was born. "Three cups of tea" and "Leaving Microsoft to change the world"; to say less if you get time to read them, they are worth it!
In April, of 2008 Dusome was officially born in Minneapolis, MN. The main goals are to build libraries and offer scholarships in rural Tanzania where opportunity is scarce commodity.
Dusome started to fund-raise for money from individuals and churches and also collecting books to meet their objectives. It has been a long worthwhile journey, still going!
Through the journey, we met several non profit groups that we are working together: Books for Africa, Msaada Architectures, Room to Read and Cosad. To date, we have been able to raise $11,984.00 and have at least 2 volunteers who are willing to travel to Tanzania this coming year 2009 to help with the project.
Dusome Foundation is invited to speak at a church in Columbus OH on January, 18, 2008, and hope to get money and volunteers. We are still far from our goal, but we will get there soon or later.
We also joined the contest with American Express/Advanta to win $10,000 towards our project; luckily we have been selected as one of the finalists on Dec/14/2008. Thank you for all your votes that made this possible to be among the finalists.
Dec/22-Dec/31 will be competing against 8 other contestants to win the $10,000/.We hope that when this year is over will have our Christmas wish granted, which is to win the competition thus gives us a new start of the year 2009.
