Hollywood actor and playwright, Ntare Mwine, star of current television
hit show "Heroes," will conduct a week-long series of "HIV/AIDS
Advocacy" workshops next week, June 22-26.
More than twenty Tanzanian theatre actors, peer educators, and artists will gather at the Little Theatre in Dar, including actors from Parapanda and UZIKWASA as well as renowned poet, Mrisho Mpoto. One participant said, "We are very much in need of this workshop for the advancement of our organization."

Mwine has extensive experience conducting these workshops which began in
Uganda in 2003 and have since expanded to nearly a dozen African
countries. The workshops allow participants the opportunity to use
theatre to strengthen HIV/AIDS communication efforts. Mwine
incorporates local language, music, and traditions to create positive
messages for those affected by this disease.
Mwine said, "This work is
just as important to me if not more so than the work I am doing in
Hollywood."

Mwine is a graduate of New York University where he received his M.F.A
in Acting. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the University of
Southern California's M.F.A School of Acting and has been a lecturer at
Yale University, University of Virginia and the University of California
in Los Angeles. Major television credits include the hit show Heroes,
The Riches, CSI, and ER, to name a few.

Mwine's visit to Tanzania is supported by the American people through
the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the
U.S. Department of State. The United States of America is a global
leader in combating HIV/AIDS worldwide.
PEPFAR, a 10-year, $48 billion
program, is the largest initiative in history to combat a single
disease. By October, the American people will have provided nearly $950
million to combat HIV/AIDS throughout Tanzania.
