Alliance Française de Dar es Salaam is a Tanzanian non-profit making association operating with the support of the French Embassy. It is part of an international network of more than 1000 Alliance françaises world-wide.
The Alliance Française de Dar es Salaam has two main objectives:
• to promote French language in organizing French courses for the general public, training for local French teachers and in offering access to the multi-media library which is also a resource centre on France, the French-speaking world and Europe.
• to propose cultural and artistic activities (concerts, shows, conferences, exhibitions, film festivals, etc…) in order to facilitate cultural exchanges between French-speaking and Tanzanian artists.
The French language courses offered by the Alliance Française de Dar es Salaam are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL), and the diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of Education (DELF/DALF) are internationally recognized.
In June and December 2009, 232 candidates sat for the 2 sessions of DELF/DALF examinations; 188 of them passed (81 %) and will receive their diplomas on Friday 19 February 2010 at 7 pm at Alliance Française, in the presence of the Guests of Honour and Alliance Française Board Members.
On that occasion, the Board of Alliance Française has invited Mr Kobby Andah, Managing Director, BOA Bank Tanzania and the Ambassador of France, H.E. Mr. J. Champagne de Labriolle as Guests of Honour.
