UPDATE - SEACOM network disturbances due to ongoing SEA-ME-WE 4 repair work expected to be resolved today (28 April 2010).
The latest notification received from SEA-ME-WE 4 indicates that the repair work on the SEA-ME-WE 4 cable is expected to be completed by 22.00 (UTC) on 28 April 2010.
SEACOM will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

The arrival of Seacom in Tanzania was WOW news to most folks in the country….What a great stride a country achieved....!! Imagine without further ado, many Tanzania goliath ISP’s companies, for instance, Cat-nets; Simbanet, uncertain about Soft-Tech, etc. reengineer their Internet service from Satellite communication to Seacom fiber. This was a great success for us third party users. Being an Internet fanatic it as hardly for me to contain my excitement. The technology turns us to watch even download the current movies via an Internet. No longer buffering while watching movies; the streamline was OK and amazing. This state of the art of the Internet makes our jaws dropped.
ReplyDeleteIronically, to ISP this was a time to bluff us, the loyal and satisfied customers. We heard from them internet cost will go down, and there will be no downturn internet. Understand that today in Bongo barely business to persist with no Internet connection; ISPs close their eyes, turn their ear deaf and make no backup system in case Seacom went off. It is nearly a week now; logging to my web mail via my ISP link becomes a fairy tale. I missed a deadline to my school assignment; my boss is about to give me the axe (I work virtually from my home PC); not to mention by the end of the month with no surprise I will receive an invoice for this month usage with no rebate.
As of now, it seems as I am wailing and whining myself and to ISP with no direction. The point I want to drive home today is a need of a secondary Internet links is a paramount to ISP no matter the cost is. Internet recently is a part and parcel of us Tanzanian. Today Tanzanian folks do business with China, Europe and some took a lecture via online education from the North countries' universities. Please ISP give us what we pay you.
