
The 18th Ordinary Session of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights will be held from the 20th September to the 1st of October 2010 in Dar Essalam, Tanzania.
The opening ceremony of the Session will be held on Monday, 20th September 2010 from 8.30 a.m. at the “Golden Tulip Hotel”.
It should be pointed out that during the opening ceremony of the Session; there will be a swearing in ceremony of new judges elected during the last Assembly of Heads of State and Government held in Kampala, Uganda in July 2010.
It should further be recalled that the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights was established by the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights adopted by the Member States of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU, today the African Union) in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on 9 June 1998.
The Protocol came into force in January 2004. The current Bureau of the Court includes the President, Mr Jean MUTSINZI and the Vice-President, Ms Sophia AKUFFO.
