It was a glorious end to a very ambitious experiment. 50 designers in one cosmopolitan city – Lagos for one very special event – The 2011 ARISE Magazine Fashion Week.

The final piece of the fashion pie was the “closing ceremony” which took place on Sunday 13th March 2011. First up, a runway presentation by South African fashion label – Black Coffee, performance by Nigeria’s rap princess – Mo’Cheddah, the presentation of the 2011 ARISE Magazine Fashion Week Awards and finally a spectacular performance by British-Nigerian music star, Tinie Tempah.

In addition to the fashion awards, 5 designers were chosen to participate in the ARISE Collective Show at the New York Fashion Week in September 2011.

The Model of the Year award went to Tanzanian model, Flaviana Matata. It has been a tremendous few months for Flaviana as she recently landed well-received editorials in L’Officiel Paris, Glass Magazine and the latest issue of ARISE Magazine.
