The 5th East African Media Summit will be held at the Serena Kigali Hotel in Rwanda on 9-10 August 2012. The Media Summit is being organized by the East African Community (EAC) in collaboration with the East African Business Council (EABC).
The Summit will bring together Media owners, Chief Executive Officers and Editors from Media houses, Publishers, and Journalists in East Africa to discuss the role of the Media in the regional integration process.
Theme of the Media Summit: Media on the Move: Harnessing the EAC Common Market for Media Enterprise and Freedom
- Presentations will be made by leading media experts and owners and will be augmented by seasoned panelists on Media and trade related issues.
- Winners of the EAC Media Award Competition 2011-2012 will be announced and awarded.
- The EAC Media Award Competition 2012-2013 will be launched at the same occasion.
- A Media Training Workshop on the theme, EAC in the Global Arena will be held for practicing journalists on the second day of the Summit.
