On January 23, U.S. Ambassador Alfonso E. Lenhardt met with President of Zanzibar, His Excellency Dr. Ali Mohamed Shein at the State House in Zanzibar. Accompanying the Ambassador at the meeting were the Tanzania Country Directors for U.S. Government agencies: Sharon Cromer from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Karl Fickenscher from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), Brian Rettmann from the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), Elizabeth O'Malley from the Peace Corps, and Zanzibar Affairs Officer Jefferson Smith.
